“Our trip to Mali was great, perhaps the experience of a lifetime… I am sure it will remain one of the most interesting, and thought provoking trips we will ever take."
~ Dennis Burke, Mali Tour

Mali is the location of legendary Timbuktu. Mali is in the huge heart of West Africa covering 1,240,000 sq. km. Your JOURNEYS trip to Mali will probably include visits to Dogon communities, the Niger River, the mosques of Djenné and Timbuktu. You can choose to include hiking, camping and camel trekking, or stay in modest lodges and hotels making day trips to some of Mali’s most interesting communities and attractions. You will meet Tuareg nomads, visit markets and see the fringes of the Sahara. Group trips to Mali operate July through March. May and June are very hot in Mali. Most trips begin with a flight to Bamako from Europe. Burkina Faso is an easy extension. Your group or individual trip will be guided by a very friendly Malian Dogon who speaks English and at least four other local languages. Any Mali trip must cope with bad roads, erratic air and land transportation and the many rigors of travel in an impoverished country. A visit to Mali is well worth the effort.
